ALLERGENS…

Even though all of my product are made with natural ingredients, please do take due care, and as with any new products designed for personal use, a skin test is recommended before use by applying only a small amount to ensure no allergic reaction occurs.

Avoid in case of known allergy to any of the listed ingredients.

All of the pure essential oils and fragrance oils used comply with EU regulations, they have not been tested on animals – nor do they contain any animal ingredients. They are mostly vegan friendly and comply with the Vegan Society guidelines.

My products all have Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSR) in place where applicable. These safety certificates are valid throughout the EU.

My candles, wax melts and room mists are all CLP compliant and I have completed extensive training in the use and application of Essential Oils and hold a Diploma in Aromatherapy, which is CPD & IAP Accredited, along with current public liability insurance.

Please remember that these products are designed for external use only. If any reaction occurs please stop use immediately. Do not use if sensitive to any of the ingredients. As with all soap products, avoid contact with eyes, if contact occurs rinse well with water. Soaps and shampoo bars from The Scented Owl are specifically blended to be gentle, and suitable for all skin types.

PLEASE NOTE: If any products specifically contain nuts, this will be clearly labelled – however please also be aware that many of the products I work with do contain both coconut oil and almond oil and I cannot guarantee that my products have not been in close contact with these products.

HOLISTIC PET REMEDIES…

PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY PRODUCTS CONTAINING ESSENTIAL OILS ON PREGNANT BITCHES OR PUPPIES UNDER 14 WEEKS. They are also not suitable for cats and other pets & animals (see below).

Essential Safety & Contraindications for pets.

Please be aware that:

  • Animal aromatherapy is different to human aromatherapy
  • Animals are more sensitive to essential oils than humans
  • Avoid use of essential oils with cats, birds, reptiles & fish
  • NEVER give essential oils internally to pets as they can cause stomach problems and even kidney or liver damage.
  • NEVER apply undiluted oils to the skin
  • NEVER apply oils directly to nose/muzzle, inside ears, near eyes or genital areas
  • NEVER use on cuts, open wounds or broken skin
  • If any irritation occurs, apply a plain carrier oil & wipe off residue

Due to the formulation of my products, all essential oil formulations will need to be applied more frequently than synthetic pesticides, however the benefits of these natural products far outweigh the exposure to harsh chemicals and the toxic side effects – for both yourself and your dog! The range of Scented Owl sprays are all individually hand-blended to produce a more delicate fragrance than that of the soaps, this is due to the fact that dogs have a much greater sense of smell than we do – theirs is in fact over 40 times stronger than ours! Due to this, and also the fact that the soaps are rinsed off your pet after use and the sprays are not, I have reduced the fragrance so as not to overstimulate your pet.

Dogs have a different pH level to humans and their skin is much more absorbent than ours, which is why shampoo and conditioners made for people can cause a dry coat or irritate a dogs skin, it is therefore vital to use a shampoo bar that is safe, natural & gentle. Most veterinarians recommend that you should only bathe your dog infrequently, usually once per month is adequate as over-bathing will strip the natural oils from your dogs coat and may cause dryness and irritation.

Never use human shampoos or soaps on your dog as they can dry out his sensitive skin. Instead it is recommended that you choose a gentle dog shampoo for routine bathing. Soothing ingredients are even more important if your dog is prone to dry skin or itchiness. Natural, moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and oatmeal are recommended. It’s also best to steer clear of heavily scented shampoos, but if you enjoy a pleasant smell, look for shampoos lightly scented with natural oils such as lavender or chamomile. All of these properties can be found in The Scented Owl range of dog shampoo bars.

While the essential oils used in The Scented  Owl products are all deemed safe for dogs, there is a possibility that your pet may be allergic. For this reason, start with a small amount and monitor any reactions your dog may have to it.
