Frequently Asked Questions……….
Are all handmade soaps the same?
The answer quite simply is no! Due to this each soap may differ in appearance and fragrance
Why does my soap smell different to the last bar I purchased?
My soap is all handmade using pure essential oils, and because these are totally natural products the scent they produce can, and will change over time and from batch to batch.
How will the ingredients in triple butter soap benefit me?
Soaps that contain glycerin are mild and help to moisturise the skin while
Shea Butter is rich in skin loving
fatty acids. These fatty acids are easily absorbed by the skin, which helps
lock in the skin’s natural moisture.
Mango Butter is emollient,
highly moisturising, and very nourishing. The Vitamin C in mango
butter helps it to boost the skin, brightening it,
while the Vitamin A helps to increase the skin’s youthful
appearance, reducing fine lines. Since mango butter is a rich
moisturiser, it is very soothing and healing.
Cocoa butter is high in fatty acids, which is why it’s often touted for
its ability to hydrate and nourish the skin and improve
elasticity. The fat in cocoa butter forms a protective
barrier over skin to hold in moisture. One common use of cocoa butter is to smooth scars, wrinkles, and other marks on the skin
Why is there not a such a high lather with handmade soap?
Due to the extremely high moisturising properties of my soap, a high lather is not always achieved – this does not mean the soap is ‘faulty’ it is simply working hard to cleanse and moisturise your skin at the same time. Most soap lather is artificially created because of customer demand, not because it is needed for cleaning.
Why has my soap gone ‘gooey?’
Any shampoo bar or any soap will go ‘gooey’ if you don’t let it air dry or use a well
drained soap dish. Allow your soap to dry out between uses by using a soap
saver, a well drained soap dish or by simply putting something like an elastic
band under your soap so that the soap is not sat directly in the water, have a
look at my sundries page for my soap savers and range of natural wood soap
How can I use my soap to make it last longer?
Use a washcloth instead of your hands. Skin is less able to produce and retain lather from soap than other materials. If you use a washcloth instead while you are bathing, the whole process will use less soap overall because the washcloth will create more lather and it the suds it creates will go farther in cleaning your body than simply using your hands alone.
Additionally, you can use a loofah to help the soap last longer.
My bath bomb is slightly more/less than the stated weight?
All our Products have stated weights and we try to make every endeavour to ensure the weight is correct. However because all our products are handmade, the weight can vary by +/-10%
What type of wax do you use?
I only use 100% natural soy wax, which is environmentally friendly and a pure and natural vegetable wax. Eco soya wax is produced from the oil obtained from soya beans, which is then purified and turned into a wax.
Is your wax vegan and eco-friendly?
Nowadays most candles on the high street are mass produced in a factory and are made from paraffin wax, all of my candles are vegan friendly and are made from 100% natural eco soy wax. The wicks are made with natural cotton, coated in natural wax to help achieve a steadier burn. Soy wax gives a clean burn with no nasty fumes, chemicals or the black smoke you find with paraffin wax.
Are your wax products cruelty free?
Yes, definitely, they are all natural and are vegan friendly
Are these wax products safe to use near pets?
The fragrance shouldn’t be a problem at all, having two dogs myself my products are used around pets all the time with no issues at all. However, the fragrance oils do contain chemicals so it’s important that your pets don’t consume any of the product, and if they do cause any irritation please stop use immediately.
Are all candles and wax products CLP compliant?
Yes, all products are fully CLP compliant. A safety warning label is provided with each product.
What packaging do you use?
I do strive to use minimal packaging for all of my products, and use recyclable glass and plastic containers wherever possible. I do ask that you please recycle your packaging when finished with your products.
How is the fragrance throw determined?
The safe, recommended fragrance for soy wax products is 10%, and the full allowance is added to each of my products. To maximize the performance of each candle, please see candle care information below
How long will the fragrance of my wax melts/bars last?
Each fragrance will perform differently based on the oil burner that you use, as well as the size of the space you are melting in, drafts, air conditioning and other environmental factors can also affect performance.
To maximize the performance of each candle, please read the following candle care: It is Important to allow the candle to burn for approximately 2 hours at the beginning to allow your candle to create its initial memory burn. This will increase the scent throw and a full melt pool of wax. Always keep the wick in the centre, and be mindful of the placement of your candlle
How is postage calculated?
The delivery charges only cover how much it actually costs me to safely pack, and post your order to you. I do not make any profit on the postage of items. Parcels are charged at a set fee of up to 2kg in weight – so why not add more to your order to save on postal costs?
What is your returns policy?
Unfortunately due to the nature of the products, I do not accept any returns. I am not able to reuse or resell the items for hygiene reasons.
